Ferran Esquilache has a doctorate in History from the University of Valencia (2016). His doctoral thesis was on the Andalusi origin of the Horta de Valencia. He has specialised in the morphological analysis of agricultural structures and spaces (systems of irrigation, plots, roads...), with the aim of studying Andalusi society and Christian colonisation.
He has worked as an adjunct lecturer and as a postdoctoral researcher at the Jaume I University of Castelló, the University of Valencia, and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He is currently a researcher at the latter university thanks to the MEDGREENREV project.
