Next Friday, 27 September, we look forward to seeing you at the Paseo del Salón in Granada to celebrate the European Researchers' Night.
The aim of the activity is to present the discipline of the archaeology of food, with particular attention to the areas of production (agriculture and livestock), preparation (cooking) and consumption (meals), as well as the usefulness of this historical knowledge for understanding and transforming the relationships with nature that define contemporary food systems. The activity is divided into two blocks of similar length.
In the first, a dynamic presentation addresses the 'what' and 'why' of the discipline, presenting case studies and linking their content to the present. In the second block, the focus shifts to the 'how' of food archaeology, how we know what we know about food in the past, introducing some of the materials we work with (seeds, bones and pottery) and the basic study methods we use to examine them.
Activity organised by CILANTRO Cocinando al-Andalus and MEDGREENREV.
