Emily M Breslin is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in BioArCh (Department of Archaeology, University of York). She is a geneticist interested in the application of DNA sequencing and population genomics analysis to ancient faunal and human populations across all periods of prehistory. Her previous research has focused on the demographic analysis of European human populations from the Late Upper Palaeolithic to the Medieval period.
As part of MEDGREENREV she will study the diachronic changes in population structure and genetic diversity of key livestock species (cattle, sheep, and goat) across over 1,000 years and a number of sites in the Iberian Peninsula. The analysis of ancient DNA from these animals will illuminate the population history of these herds and provide key insights into the evolving animal husbandry practices of Medieval Iberia.
