Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. His speciality is Andalousian and Medieval Archaeology between the 8th and 12th centuries.

His main line of research is History and Archaeology of Al-Andalus. Architecture, Landscape and Identity (8th - 12th Centuries) which in turn is divided into three thematic axes: The dry-land Areas in the Lleida District, Identity and Power in the Upper Frontier of Al-Andalus (9th - 12th Centuries), The Transition between Late-Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages in the Ebro Valley (6th - 8th Centuries).

He is currently principal investigator of the project Agricultural production, food and health between Late Antiquity and the High Middle Ages in the north-east of the Iberian Peninsula, directs the archaeological excavations at the site of Santa Coloma, in Àger (Catalonia) and is coordinator of the Archaeology degree at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
