The 'Miquel Barceló' medieval history and archeology seminars are annual meetings in which ongoing research is presented and where relevant issues in the field of archeology and medieval history are debated. It is a meeting forum for experienced researchers and researchers in training, open and especially aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The topics discussed as a priority in these seminars have to do, in general, with medieval peasants, on the one hand, and with the political orders built in the different medieval societies, on the other. The work carried out by Professor Miquel Barceló during forty years, both of research and teaching at the UAB, is an unavoidable reference when dealing with these topics. Therefore, the name chosen for these seminars, which are a modest tribute to his work.
The topic chosen for the 11th seminar offers us the possibility of deepening our knowledge of the rural areas of Al-Andalus and, especially, domestic spaces and their configuration.
