Cultivar el paisaje, cosechar la memoria: plantas, saberes agrarios y transformaciones sociales en el Mediterráneo occidental medieval. Homenaje a Julia M. Carabaza Bravo

Within the framework of the ERC SyG MedGreenREV project, and as a tribute to one of its members who has recently retired, Professor Julia Mª Carabaza Bravo, from the Department of Semitic Studies (Area of Arabic and Islamic Studies) at the University of Granada, the International Congress “Cultivar el paisaje, cosechar la memoria. Plantas, saberes agrarios y transformaciones sociales en el Mediterráneo occidental medieval” will be held. The conference is characterised by the multidisciplinary nature of its contributions.

The meeting will address the rural environment of al-Andalus and the Maghreb through Arabic-Islamic documentation relating to agriculture, botany, pharmacology and law, as well as Castilian documentation from the period immediately following the conquest, and evidence provided by archaeology, archaeobotany and zooarchaeology.

Directed by Inmaculada Camarero Castellano, in collaboration with the ERC SyG MedGreenREV project, the Istmo Research Group, the Department of Medieval History and Historiographic Sciences and Techniques of the University of Granada and the University of Granada.
